He Knows You

Daily Devotional 27/11/2025.

...And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward... (I Samuel 16:12-13 NKJV)

David was a young man who loved the Lord with all his heart. Although, story had it that he was not treated specifically like the other children at home because he was born out of wedlock. You would wonder why Jesse his father called every other child to the special ceremony with God except David.

Aware of this treatment, David never allowed it to get into him. He knew that bitterness is a destiny destroyer. Instead, he found solace in his fellowship with God while in the wilderness. Beloved, when there seem to be much pressure, where do you receive strength from? David wrote majority of his songs in the wilderness!

He continued until he was called home suddenly by his father. He arrived home and found all his brothers there. Samuel the man of God, who was a deeply respected and influential man in Israel, was waiting for him. Samuel pointed to David and said, “He is the next king of Israel.”

David had never met Samuel, never turned in a résumé, never wrote an application, never set up an interview, yet this influential man showed up under God’s instruction, an anointed him as the next king. He was anointed the most powerful man in the land. Who says God doesn't reward faithfulness to Him?

Do you think you’re insignificant or limited by where you are today? God has ordained Samuel's whom you don’t even know, to open doors and take you to levels higher than you’ve imagined. Follow Him without doubting. He is a rewarder of those who seek Him continuously.” Amen!
